Campervanning with dogs

🐕 Welcoming two and four-legged campervan guests:

Are you looking to bring your dog/s with you for your trip to the Cotswolds? We don’t blame you! The Cotswolds is a gorgeous area. Explore the countryside, footpaths and woods, visit the villages and towns and treat yourselves in the many dog-friendly cafes and pubs.

We welcome friendly dogs, but for safety reasons we cannot accept any breeds or types listed as dangerous or banned. We are happy to welcome up to two well behaved dogs to per van. 🐕 If you wish to bring more dogs – please get in touch first. 

We understand for solo travellers it can be tricky to leave your dog in your van/awning while you shower so the perfect solution is to take them with you! Our bathrooms are big enough that they can be in the main room while you are in the shower cubicle. During winter months we would appreciate though if you could use the mop to clear any muddy paw prints before you leave the bathroom so it is clean for the next person.

Is Cotswold Campervan Stays the right place for you?

We appreciate that every site is different, some are huge areas with many pitches, some are in the middle of nowhere so let’s make sure you know what our site is like. 

As the image above shows, our campervan site is just over an acre, and alongside a road on the outskirts of Chipping Campden. The site is gated to the road (but with a gap under the main gate) but open via the car park to the rest of the small-holding where there is another gateway open to the road and a small number of free range chickens roam. 

We are surrounded by farms with sheep on each side. Between the months of May – June/July we have sheep with lambs in our bottom field. I say this just so you can understand why we strongly suggest that dogs be kept on leads, or under very close control while on site. This is to keep them safe, the livestock safe and then there is also the dynamic of the other guests who may be afraid of dogs or also have dogs with them and do not want to be visited by loose roaming dogs.

In the months that we do not have sheep in our bottom field guests are welcome to exercise their dogs in there. 

We also hope to add an enclosed wire paddock into the bottom field which could still be used even when sheep are in the rest of the field – possible a project for 2027. 

As we are in the countryside, there are owls, pheasants, cows, sheep, badgers, foxes as well as chickens around us. These creatures can be noisy both day and at night. Their sounds may cause your dog to get excited and act differently to how they do at home. 

Please do make sure your dog is under control at all times. This is for their safety and that of other guests.  

Also, please make sure your dog is of good health before and during your stay.

General rules regarding behaviour

We are looking forward to meeting you and your four-legged friends. We consider your dog to be a member of your group and want them to have a lovely holiday too.

However, as with your humans, any anti-social or destructive behaviour (noise or being loose on site) will not be accepted. If this happens repeatedly, your group will be asked to leave the site, and a refund forfeited.

In Summary:

We ask that you ensure:

  • All dogs are kept under control and/or on a lead whilst on site
  • All dog poo is picked up and bagged immediately, and placed in the bin provided
  • Dogs are NEVER LEFT ALONE on the site. You must take your dog with you if going off site
  • Dog owners notify us of any damage or incidents affecting the property/other guests/livestock
  • Dogs can be taken into the bathroom with you if you are a solo traveller and they can’t be left in your van

 

 

Dog-friendly places to go in the Cotswolds

Big skies and great walks on Dover's Hill

Obviously there are many footpaths and walks to enjoy with your dog. Many of the open spaces where your dog can run will have livestock grazing nearby. Please check before allowing your dog off the lead. If we do not have sheep in our bottom field, this can be used to exercise your dog. Please pick up any dog mess immediately.

There are many places that welcome dogs locally, including Batsford Arboretum, and Hidcote Manor Gardens.
